The Great American Outdoors Act Passes the Senate! Now on to the House…

Need some good news? The bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act passed the Senate earlier this week and is now headed to the House of Representatives. From the Outdoor Industry Association:

The Great American Outdoors Act, the legislation to provide full and permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund and provide funding to begin tackling the deferred maintenance backlog on federal public lands, PASSED 73-25 with overwhelming bipartisan support.

There is an urgent effort to continue momentum and have this bill quickly passed. I hope that you will join PPORA and over 900+ organizations to reach out to your Representative and to confirm their plans to vote yes for the Great American Outdoors Act with no amendments and to co-sponsor the legislation if they haven’t already.  Find your district’s representative HERE.

PPORA Board Chairman, David Leinweber, had a unique opportunity Friday to meet with the author of the bill, Colorado Senator Cory Gardner, along with the Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue, to discuss what the passage of the bill could mean for Colorado’s public spaces as well as other issues facing outdoor recreation and conservation.

Industry colleagues, Luis Benitez (former Director of Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office and currently VF Corp’s VP of Government Affairs and Global Impact) and Lise Aangeenbrug (Executive Director of the Outdoor Industry Association) joined the conversation.
