State of The outdoorsState of The outdoors
Partnered with the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC, PPORA hosted the 5th annual State of the Outdoors on May 15th 2023 at the Norris Penrose VIP Heritage Room. The event focuses on elevating the economic value of the outdoor industry and connecting its leaders with business and community leaders through inspiring topics, speakers, and an outdoor expo.
That's a wrap! 2023 State of the outdoors recap
The State of the Outdoors provides the opportunity to learn about regional updates in planning, processes, and outdoor spaces, as well as meet the organizations and industry leaders behind them- all in one place!
You know that our outdoors is our greatest asset in the Pikes Peak region. However, you may not realize all the initiatives, volunteer efforts, and organizations that work behind-the-scenes to conserve, maintain, and enhance the outdoors for our recreational enjoyment.
The future of the outdoors is bright in the Pikes Peak Region! Be part of the conversation during the only event where the community, business and outdoor industry leaders come together to learn and connect.
Speakers
You’ll hear from regional industry leaders about the current state of our outdoors, including:
District Ranger Carl Bauer will share on our local forest’s health, our wildfire risk, and the efforts planned and underway to address this for the Pikes Peak Ranger District.
Chris Lieber of N.E.S. Landscape Architects will provide updates on the Outdoor Pikes Peak Initiative – In response to rapid growth in use of the outdoors resulting in impacts to both recreational experiences and the natural environment, this locally driven state-supported process works to identify and advance conservation and recreation priorities in the region.
Updates from local land managers and engagement opportunities on outdoor projects in the region, such as Blodgett Open Space master planning, North Slope Recreation Area dam rehabilitation project, COS Creek Plan, Ring the Peak, and more will be shared by PPORA Executive Director, Becky Leinweber.
