Voice Your Support: Future Generations Act – Senate Bill 143
Fellow Outdoor Enthusiasts and Business Leaders,
I would like to bring to your attention some vital legislation that will significantly affect all of our businesses, and which requires immediate action. As an outdoor business, our infrastructure goes beyond our store fronts and/or office spaces. We are dependent on the natural resources that are made available to us on our public lands. Management of the wildlife on these public lands is largely dependent on the strength of our Colorado Parks and Wildlife agency.
As most of you are aware, resident hunting and fishing license fees have remained at the same level since 2005. Yet the rate of inflation has increased almost 30% since 2005, reducing Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s ability to meet the needs and expectations of our clients and customers.
In order for Colorado to remain one of the most premier hunting and fishing locations in the world, we need to support this modest increase in hunting and fishing license fees. As business owners and employees dependent on our natural resources for our businesses to thrive, we need a vibrant and healthy wildlife that will continue to draw customers from around the world.
THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION.
The Future Generations Bill will be heard in the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018.
The Committee hearing starts at 2pm, and at this time, the bill will be the 6th presented. For those interested in listening to the discussion next week, you can access the live audio here: https://leg.colorado.gov/watch-listen
An email or phone call from you and your staff this week, before that hearing, will be instrumental in helping our Senators understand the importance of this bill to our businesses. Join me in influencing positive change for the continued health of our industry.
